Villages of La’i ‘Ōpua is a community comprised of 60 single family rental homes. Construction began in November 2020, and Initial homes are expected to be finished in October 2021. DHHL selected 60 beneficiaries for this program on April 17, 2021. Beneficiaries will be given the opportunity to rent the homes upon completion of construction with an option to purchase in 2036.

To qualify for this program, beneficiaries must be low income and Native Hawaiian. The DHHL Rent-With-Option-To-Purchase program targets qualifying families who earn up to 30 percent, 40 percent, and 60 percent of the area median income.
